Rather than ‘collage’ we were asked to experiment with ‘decollage’ – a process of deconstructing.
A selection of my drawings were chosen and then photocopied. I then tore and cut sections that I thought were interesting. These were then glued and made into a collage. Once dry I tore and cut sections.
The samples above are photocopies of work that has been cut and torn, placed again then photocopied. To make them even more interesting I chose different colours when making photocopies.
The inspiration for these works came from a detailed ink drawing from my garden. I wanted to capture the foliage of all sorts through a selection a drawing styles.
I have really enjoyed this process and like the results so far. I could almost imagine these being wallpaper samples and am looking forward to exploring further.
